Some of Fashion 2012 Finest Finds

Valentino's most coveted studded shoes for spring 2012

Erdem's yellow bright floral collection with the watercolor pleated wash still used, still loved and embraced by the fashion forward

Etro staying with mixing colors and shapes in such a way one cannot take the eyes away from the designs

Jonathan Saunders, going from colorblocking to pale faded colors like this lilac coat with a bit of green to bring in the springtime

Helmut Lang and his simplicity with draping, color and modern minimalism at it's best

Mary Katrantzou's  pot pen gown skirt with a VaVaVoom silhoutte I love how the gold band lays right on the hips, and then cascades down the skirt like legs

Peplum silhouette created by layering

Lela Rose's mesh of colors as watercolors would play on white canvas with pinching the bodice into the middle and the pleating to volumize the skirt, one of my favorites with the colors mixed like a painter's palette

The bird Motif was everywhere this year, again Gold is a major player in accents, dresses and shoes
Bird Dress by Carolina Herrera

McQueen's world of Theatrics on a Grand scale were always appreciated, this gown with hounds-tooth puff's & tight bodice are exchanged for red satin covered in birds flying in all directions a pronounced & electrifying example of his skills at pattern making & balancing the madness of fashion with the mind-bending imagination inside his head. The proportions are dead on. This would be a dress a future Queen of England could wear, crown filled with diamonds of birds and a design of the hounds-tooth as the foundation. Duchess of Cambridge would wear it well. If only!

Nina Ricci's very fitted sheath dress

It is the year of the wedge, Dolce & Gabbana gives us 2 good examples of how the wedge grew from a summer raffia shoe into an over the top, color, fabric & platform extravaganza for all shoe designers. We are blessed to have such a selection.

Dries Van Noten finding ways to create the illusion of textiles through digital prints & fabrication

Donna Karan's  sexy silhouette in this color blocked dress with it's shades creating a unique shape for the model

It started with the ankle boot 2 years ago, then came the "bootie" then the bootie evolved into whatever you wanted it to be such as the armadillo shoe of McQueen's. Mary Katrantzou dressed her yellow booties with studs, a floral pattern of greens and orange, The studs made a frame for her painting in yellow and they are drop dead gorgeous.

Orange, Yellow, colors still very relevant in this season along with layering one of the most important additions in fashion to come along create one of a kind silhouettes, allowing summer clothes to be worn in winter with layering pieces. It should have the award for most fashion forward part in our 1990's having no silhouette to define that decade.

Giles with the Valentino Red, turns Peplum into ruffles, the skirt straight to the ground sweeping along as the model walked, swaying her confection, like a warrior Queen from some distant land. The imagination and cuts of these gowns, so new, so lovely and refined.
From Berlin Fashion Week 2012, with instead of ombre we have faded, sun drenched parts of fabric used to change the look of a piece.

Stewart Weiztman's fabo Mint Mary Jane's with Silver toe cap, the YSL Obsession shoe, toe cap's became the most colored changed look for shoes this year.

Ella Saab 2012 Pink adorned with what looks like cotton candy made into flowers, this pink different than last years Color of the Year from @pantone "Honeysuckle Pink" is pale, faded, and for me my favorite color in fashion. You can see in my Pinterest boards I have many examples of this pink in all it's faded shades of glory.

a new website @uncovet, written up by all the major fashion resources as a new "trending" website,  with artist such as Lark whom made this color blocked bags with mint green, cream and burnt orange and my all time favorite accent a neon yellow zipper a great new resource for unique handmade fashion.

Adam's amazing Skater Dress in Gold Print with the new sleek & sneak shape helper in the black sides of fabric, an illusion of thinner bodice or ribcage Kate Winslet first showed in a Narcisco dress so amazing

Taking the cropped jean, colored, and skinny putting all the favorites in one.
Vera Wang platform a shade of the first Balenciaga shoe by Nicolas Ghesquiere the Olsen twins were first seen wearing, a thick wedge like pump with the toe & heel so close together, it has had a profound effect on the heel of all shoes and heels after the success of that one boot
Here are the Balenciaga boots I speak of. Mostly Mary-Kate wore these everywhere there was a picture taken of her. Yes and naturally she had them before anyone else, which turned getting them into a frenzy. By the time you had them to wear, everyone was trying their own interpretation of the style.

More from Berlin's fashion week with the classic skater dress silhouette in a pleated mini and cardigan with a hot pink shirt hanging out under the cardigan pronouncing the outfit as tres cool

Rodarte's very calm and cozy black leather trend in stripes, with the fabric illusion again stripes defining the silhouette and sterling stripes are a innovated answer to new ideas and fun in the world of such serious fashion.

Cropped Pants take over the skinny for 2 minutes as the jeans to wear. Very cute silhouette, SJP works it very well chasing her twins around the Village at the playground

The most serious night in Fashion next to the Met Gala, the Oscars, with draping from Kristen Wiig her first Oscars well done, vintage gowns, pixie hair cuts & clutches made to look like books (Michelle is 1 of my favorite style icons, she has a great sense of herself & her style I am never disappointed with her choices, metallic sexiness &and a lovely burnt sienna strapless gown from the always well dresses Penelope Cruz

I could talk fashion until the end of the world. When my house burned down taking most of my treasures with it, I had a rare opportunity to redo my wardrobe with an educated mind about what looks good on me and being of an ripening age picking pieces that will last forever and not forever21.
I spend at least 4-6 hours a day reading, blogging, studying, & learning about what is going on it fashion. I learned about Pantone the company that comes out with colors of the year, plua their accent friends. I learned about the art of bespoke on Savoy Road. An art form slowly slipping away into the ether until Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and our Olsen twins, from The Row wanted to learn the art form that is about construction, pattern, form, shape. There are artisans out there that keep the traditions alive, like the wonderful woman whom still makes the fabric in a cord for the Chanel suits she has been doing for over 50 years. I have had more fun finding the good finds, listening to the experts about what every woman should have in her closet. Trench coat, black pants, black pumps, white shirt, khakis, we all know the rest. Then I got to get to the fun part, the part about what my own personality needs for it's express of style. Erdem, Edun, Mary Kart, Celine with Phobe Philo at the helm. Classic pieces from her newest collections, Marni for my quirky artistic side, Walter, Miha, Derek Lam's Charley Tote I feel so lucky, Calvin Klein's nude platform pumps thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge, MuiMui for the fun and stylishness and finally Tracy Reese, Imitation, Zac Posen & his ruched pirate shirt and  for amazing Dresses so much more to share. I will have a new walk in closet to design for my new wardrobe and can't thank all the people who helped me from Gilt, Outnet, Neiman Marcus, J.Crew, Target, Garment District, Farfetch.com, Yoox, and Payless Shoes. These sales people were graceful & thoughtful about helping me pick the right things. Thank you all
